It's no surprise to me that the "Cape Crusader" dawn a pair of Nike sneakers to fight crime. It actually brings a smile to my face, my favorite superhero is, without question is Batman a.k.a. "The Dark Knight" and my favorite sneaker brand has always and will always be Nike. While researching this topic I came across an amazing article in the history of Batman wearing Nike sneakers that I highly recommend checking out, link is at the bottom of this blog.
When I think of lacing up my favorite sneakers (which are any Kobe shoe's) to hit the court a feeling of transformation comes over me and the easiest way to describe it and explain it is imagine when Clark Kent jump into the phone booth a mere man and comes out as the "Man of Steel" Superman. That's how it feels putting on your favorite basketball sneakers before stepping on the court.
But, why? Why does some sneakers make you feel like a superhero? The answer can be complex but for me it's very simple. The answer is not just one but a combination things that first begins with the athlete. In my case Kobe Bryant the "Black Mamba". I loved how he played he was a combination of an unstoppable force and the will to never give up, never quit. He played through injury after injury taking no days off all because he had a job to do and that was to win at all cost.
Aside from his work ethic I love and admire his game. The things he did on the court inspired me to go out and do the same, and in some small capacity, I did. My sneakers became my favorite shoes to wear because of they made me feel when I put them on. When I laced up my Kobe's I wasn't Will anymore... I would transformed into something the defense would fear, the sneakers were my cape and it would be time to go to work.
This is a major reason why I thought and created the RE-GRP SOLE product "Mark I". I didn't want to get rid of my favorite sneakers after the out-sole became worn and lost all grip, I grew attached to them, I had accomplished so much wearing those sneakers not to mention they look practically brand new from the top view I mean the wear and tear was evident but I kept them clean.
